Hunting on Marine Corps Base Quantico
Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ) offers a variety of hunting opportunities on the installation. Although white-tailed deer and wild turkey are the most popular game species, Quantico hunters also enjoy pursuing waterfowl, rabbit, mourning dove, and grey squirrel. Each year over 1,500 active duty, retired military personnel, and civilians hunt aboard MCBQ. In addition, MCBQ observes VDWR youth and apprentice hunts and hosts three Wounded Warrior Hunts annually; a muzzleloader hunt, a waterfowl hunt and a spring gobbler hunt. MCBQ has an active management program that includes maintaining and planting over 300 acres of wildlife openings, erecting waterfowl nest boxes and hunting blinds, and conducting prescribed burns to increase understory forage.
